Earlier books in the series used prologues well. Book two especially benefited from one. Final Approach, however, skips the prologue entirely. It launches readers right into the action.

Book Summary: An Air Marshal, a Hijacking, and a Web of Deception

Air marshal Christine Duncan isn't on duty. She and her friends are simply headed out on a much-needed vacation. Then a hijacker tries to seize control of their plane. With help from FBI Special Agent Andrew Ross, Christine stops the attack. Soon after, the plane lands safely.

Yet the investigation that follows is anything but simple. Every layer they peel back reveals another puzzle. Meanwhile, Christine and Andrew discover more to admire in each other. Justice and their hearts are both on the line.

Meet the Characters: Christine Duncan and Andrew Ross

Who would we most want to have coffee with? The whole friend group, honestly! Lynette has built a found-family circle that feels a bit like the TV show Friends. Everyone jumps in to help.

Forced to pick one, we'd choose Christine. After all, how often do you meet an air marshal? None of the careers in this series are ordinary. Instead, readers meet SWAT members, detectives, FBI agents, and a fire chief.

Christine and Andrew share painful pasts. Each has overcome something difficult. That common ground makes them wonderfully compatible. Andrew, however, is an outsider to Lake City. He's also wrestling with family drama. His cousin, who has struggled with addiction, wants to stay with Andrew's parents. Naturally, Andrew worries the cousin will take advantage of them.

Truthfully, these two get hit harder than any couple in the series. Their vacation never happens. Sleep rarely happens either!

Supporting Characters Worth Watching

Hank, one of Andrew's friends, quickly became a favorite. We'd love to learn more about him. His return to undercover work, though, left us uneasy. Did we ever suspect him? One of us did, until learning he's a Marine!

Andrew's parents also charmed us. Wherever he's stationed, they follow him and open a little bookshop. What a dream!

A Fun Nod to Another Christian Suspense Author

James reads a Kate Angelo book in the story. Each book in the series features a different author this way. During a previous interview, Lynette shared that author friends often weave each other into their stories. Such a fun touch!

The Attempted Hijacking

Hijackings are extremely rare. In fact, Lynette's research turned up only two incidents outside of 9/11 across many years. The hijacker's homemade weapon puzzled us, too. And honestly? He chose the worst plane possible. It carried an air marshal, FBI agents, SWAT team members, detectives, and a nurse!

But there's likely a reason why. His motive was heartbreaking. One of us even had to pause reading.

A Lawsuit, Cheesecake, and a Few Too Many Cars

Christine gets sued by a passenger on the plane. Our reaction? Ridiculous! You'll have to read to find out why.

On a lighter note, Christine's cheesecake habit made her so relatable. Two slices at once? Yes, please. Andrew, meanwhile, goes through four or five Bureau cars. We'd hate to be his insurance agent!

A Family in Crisis

Tabitha, the hijacker's wife, is raising six children. Her oldest son, Jacob, runs off, afraid of landing in the system. Meanwhile, Tabitha is reluctant to share what she knows. We kept urging her to do the right thing.

The Faith Factor in Final Approach

Faith runs deep in this Christian romantic suspense novel. Christine and Andrew pray constantly, even while on the move. That habit felt familiar. Many of us talk to the Lord throughout a busy workday, too.

Another highlight involves Ethan, Christine's younger brother. He never had a godly role model growing up. Now, two men at church are pouring into him. That's exactly the picture Titus 2 paints: older believers teaching younger ones how to live godly lives.

Such mentoring feels rare today. Too often, we get so focused on our to-do lists that we miss the people around us. This story is a gentle reminder to invest intentionally in others.

Finally, Andrew prays over Christine before she confronts her father. It's a tender moment. Having a spouse who prays over you is a true blessing, and those prayers make a difference.

Scenes That Stuck With Us

Without spoilers, the ending is jaw-dropping. It's unexpected and still lingers. Other memorable moments include Andrew being taken and his prayer over Christine.
